The VACCHO Koori Maternity Strategy was established in 1999 funded by the Department of Human Services. Funding is allocated to enhance existing community based Aboriginal health services by providing additional and culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal women throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the immediate postnatal period, by creating cooperative partnerships that enable the Aboriginal women of Victoria to access the best possible maternity care. The Koori Maternity Strategy operates from VACCHO in Melbourne

The Elders and Leaders speak about their health the circumstances leading up to their diagnosis, how they have coped with and managed their condition and the personal goals and aspirations they have for leading a healthy life.

Once Is Too Often

Domestic Violence is a 'taboo subject' rarely discussed in our society, shrouded in social stigma and shame - perpetuated by silence. The intention of Once Is Too Often is to give voice to women's issues and promote the importance of women reclaiming their inner strength - for their own wellbeing and that of the community.
